Lady Midnight Brief Review

8/14/2018

Lady Midnight - Well, I don't often do this, but I'm going to put this one down for a bit. My purpose for reading this book was to determine whether or not to add it to my classroom library this fall, and I do not feel it's appropriate for middle school for several reasons. While I recognize how it entices readers with it's hard-to-put-down cliff hangers and air of mystery, it lacks enough substance to merit inclusion in my classroom.

I'm typically a passerby of fantasy novels, but I saw Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare at Ollie's and decided to venture outside my comfort zone. And, to be frank, this book hasn't let me down yet! I'm intrigued by the level of imagination and description by my meager 175 of 669  pages of reading  thus far. It's starting to pick up in pace, so I'll keep you posted!

Life Like by Jay Kristoff just arrived in the mail as a Charlotte Award nominee. I'm only 35 pages deep, but it's intriguing - especially the opening pages. Once I finish, I will share my thoughts.
